Rotation Report Favaloro Foundation
Internship report of the Winner of the Stalyc Improvement Scholarship Award, first semester 2012.

It is a pleasure for me to inform you that on the second half of December, 2012, we have finalized the rotation through the Heart Transplant Area in the Favaloro Foundation. The Rotation was one week per month starting April through to December 2011.
During this internship we had the opportunity to take in and make the most of the knowledge in the medical, legal, organization and infrastructure levels necessary for fitting out a Cardiac Transplant Unit in our hospital (Institute of Social Prevision (IPS) Asuncion-Paraguay.
The internship schedule consisted of daily visits with Dr. Mirtha Diez and Dr. Favaloro, together with fellow Post-graders in Cardiac Insufficiency, Dr. Martin and Dr. Lucrecia Secco. We also has weekly reunions- Ateneo for Cardiac Transplant, were we evaluated patients with severe heart failure transplanted or in view of transplant.
Another weekly reunion was done together with Neumology Service to evaluate patients in view of a Lung Transplant or patients with severe Pulmonary Hypertension. Followed by clinical Ateneos once a week oriented towards different topics.
All responses to the evolution and response of immunosuppressive patients undergoing biopsy's and diverse studies necessary for follow up , were evaluated on a daily basis by Staff Doctors and medical graduates, I must say, of high academic formation standards in the Areas of Transplant.
I devotedly thank Dr. Favaloro (Cardiac Surgeon and Chief of the Foundation), Dr. Bertolotti (Chief of Thorax Transplant Unit) all the surgeons in the Thorax Transplant Area: Danny (Cardiac Surgeon) and Martin (Thorax Surgeon). I must not forget to emphasize that Dr. Mirtha Diez´s vocation for teaching is praiseworthy.
I also would like to thank the secretaries of the area and all of the doctors and employees whom I didn't mention. My rotations were the most beneficial and pleasant.
Together with Dr. Sergio Cabral (Cardio surgeon of IPS), thanking the given sponsorship we achieved the manufacture of the Base protocol for the Cardiac Transplant ,the Cardiac Insufficiency and Pulmonary Hypertension Units of our Hospital.
This experience allowed us to see, the pre-intra and post Cardiac Transplants of various patients.
Thanks to the collaboration of the doctors of the Favaloro Foundation we carried out and achieved our FIRST CARDIAC TRASNPLANT COURSE in our country. A second achieved goal for our Institution in particular, is the agreement with the Favaloro Foundation for future formation of professionals in the area of Transplant in diverse areas not only in Cardiac.
I was honoured and privileged to have received the Scholarship from this prestigious Institution which is STALYC, and also for having the chance of meeting such marvellous people like those of the Favaloro Foundation.
