Transplant Refresher Stay Grant in the Latin American and Caribbean Transplant Society

Regulations for the awarding of Grants for transplant refresher course, in Latin American centers, approved by the DC in Cartagena in 2009.

The Latin American and Caribbean Transplant Society (STALYC) will set up a Grant system for young doctors interested in being in any of the regional transplant centers from 2009 onwards.

The acceptance of these centers as a reference is based on the importance of their work, as well as the quality of their results.

The STALYC will award 5 Grants annually, which last two months, with a monthly stipend of US$ 1.000 (one thousand dollars). The accommodation during the Grant is at the cost of the scholar.

 

These Grants are meant for doctors or nurses working with transplants.

General conditions for the awarding of Grants

The applicant must be under 40 upon when applying for the Grant.

They will present a formal request, supported by their University or a Medical Institution, as well as by their country's Transplant Society (if it exists) or by that of the corresponding specialty. In it, they will have to specify the Service that will receive them and the topic or area of interest for their stay.

They will attach their degree, which enables them to work as a nephrologist, cardiologist, surgeon, hepathologist, university nurse, etc, issued by their University.

They will attach their résumé, along with an acceptance letter from the Transplant Center which they aspire to.

They will have a minimum experience of 1 year, in a Transplant Center from their country, in any of the diverse areas involved.

The scholar will commit to returning to their country to pass on their experience.

Upon finishing their stay, they must prepare a report of the work done for the Transplant Society from their country with a copy to STALYC. This report will have to be signed by the Service Chief where they did their internship.

The applicants for the transplant programs coming from underdeveloped countries will have priority.

Selection

The documentation will be evaluated by a commission of 3 members of the DC, who will state their decision once this is revised.

Results

The selected candidates will be notified by email and this will later be published on the Society's webpage.
